The retail transformation of 153 Cumberland Street, a distinctive address tucked behind Toronto’s luxury-lined Bloor Street, has reached completion as its established merchants transition to new locations. Nicolas, which has served the Yorkville fashion community since 2000, has secured a new home at 26 Bellair Street, while Moscot unveiled its new 407 Queen Street West location on January 15, 2025.
Lululemon’s relocation stands as the most visible transformation, having moved from its Cumberland Street space to a stunning two-level flagship at 2 Bloor Street West. The athletic wear retailer now anchors the prominent Yonge-Bloor corner with a sophisticated space featuring natural wood tones, terrazzo flooring, and brick accents. The iconic corner space, previously housing Talbots, Swarovski, and CIBC, has become a key piece in the intersection’s revival, now sharing the address with incoming luxury appliance brand Smeg’s first Canadian showroom.
Both lululemon and Smeg stories were first reported by Retail Insider.
The Cumberland Street property will be transformed into Harry Rosen‘s new 38,000-square-foot flagship store by spring 2026, less than 200 metres from its current Bloor Street location. The development represents a key piece of Harry Rosen’s $50 million investment in reimagining its retail presence across Canada, joining a wave of luxury retail expansion throughout the Yorkville neighbourhood.
Future coverage will detail individual store openings and provide an in-depth look at Harry Rosen’s flagship development plans for the property, which will feature updated design and customer-centric experiences, including a vast patio overlooking the Village of Yorkville Park, a luxurious client lounge and espresso bar, and valet parking on weekends.
