Hospitality brand Sonder has officially launched its newest Toronto location at 197 King Street East. Signage for “The Nealon” has appeared at the historic Romanesque building in Old Town, with the property now offering studio to three-bedroom apartment-style accommodations starting from CA$245 per night.
The 136-year-old heritage building, constructed in 1888, has undergone significant restoration work completed in 2024. The Nealon property features various room configurations ranging from 311-square-foot Queen Studios to spacious 1,507-square-foot Three-Bedroom Apartments that can accommodate up to eight guests. Each unit comes equipped with modern amenities including stocked kitchens, in-unit laundry, air conditioning, and Roku TVs for streaming services. The property also boasts a seasonal rooftop terrace open from June through September.

This addition to Old Town’s hospitality landscape strengthens the area’s appeal as a destination for both tourists and business travellers seeking accommodations with historic character and modern conveniences. Located just minutes from King Subway Station and the King Street East streetcar line, The Nealon provides easy access to the Distillery District, St. Lawrence Market, and the city’s financial district, positioning it as an attractive option for extended stays in one of Toronto’s most historically significant neighbourhoods.
The property is operated by Sonder, a hospitality company that manages apartment-style hotel accommodations in major cities worldwide. 6ix Retail will continue to report on this project as new details and an opening date becomes available.
